The inauguration ceremony for the China-Malaysia Belt and Road Joint Laboratory for Oil Processing and Forum on Future Food Technology and High-Quality Development were grandly held at the Guangzhou Swiss Hotel on June 14-15, 2025. Co-established by Jinan University and Universiti Putra Malaysia, the laboratory was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in October 2024 as the fourth batch of "Belt and Road" joint laboratories and China's first Sino-Malaysian "Belt and Road" joint laboratory. Prior to this landmark event, a pivotal initiative laying the foundation for collaboration, the Achievement Transformation Base of the China-Malaysia Belt and Road Joint Laboratory for Oil Processing and Safety, had been finalized at Myande Group.
Start from Yangzhou: Drafting a New Collaborative Blueprint
The China-Malaysia Belt and Road Joint Laboratory for Oil Processing and Safety represents China’s highest-level platform for international scientific cooperation, structured in alignment with national key laboratory standards. This initiative embodies both nations’ commitment to advancing technological collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Its establishment at Myande not only reflects high recognition of Myande's global leadership and outstanding contributions in oils & fats engineering – particularly in high-efficiency, safe palm oil processing technologies – but also highlights its role as a key node in "Belt and Road" scientific cooperation, leveraging its status as a benchmark enterprise in China's grain and oil equipment sector. Focused on critical issues such as core technological innovation in oil processing, product quality and safety control, and industrial chain sustainability, the laboratory will integrate top-tier research capabilities and industrial resources from both nations.
Kick off in Guangzhou: Unveiling a New Chapter in Technological Collaboration
On June 14th, representatives from Chinese and Malaysian government agencies, leading research institutions, industry associations, and key enterprises in the oils & fats sector gathered at the event. The meeting formally announced the laboratory's entry into a substantive advancement phase and featured in-depth discussions on "Future Food Technology and High-Quality Development."
Li Xudong, Vice President of Myande Group, attended the "Conference on Opportunities and Challenges in China-ASEAN International Science and Technology Cooperation" and participated in roundtable dialogue themed "The Belt and Road Initiative and Grain & Oil Security: Industry-University-Research Collaboration" as a representative of the co-constructing enterprises, and formally signed the strategic cooperation and achievement transformation base agreement for the joint laboratory on behalf of Myande.
Technology Sharing: Collaborating on New Frontiers of Science and Technology
As a global pioneer in palm oil processing technology and equipment, Myande Group has been deeply involved in the co-construction of the laboratory. At the forum, it shared its innovative technologies and successful practices in palm oil refining, energy conservation and emission reduction, high-value utilization of by-products, and intelligent processing. These insights have provided valuable industrial perspectives and solid technical support for the laboratory's future research directions, resonating strongly with participating experts and highlighting its core role in advancing "Belt and Road" cooperation in grain and oil science and technology.
Empowering Industries: Synergizing for Win-Win Outcomes
Myande’s participation as a core co-builder of the China-Malaysia "Belt and Road" Joint Laboratory embodies both honor and responsibility. Myande commits to dedicating R&D resources and technical expertise, collaborating closely with Sino-Malaysian partners to develop the laboratory into a world-class innovation platform for oil processing technologies. It will contribute "Myande Wisdom" and "Chinese Solutions" to driving high-quality, safe, and sustainable development of the global oil processing industry.
Over 800 attendees graced this grand event, including government leaders and academicians from China and Malaysia, as well as university leaders, scholars, and enterprise representatives from the Food and Oils Industry.
