Nanocavitation Technology Is Transforming the Global Oils & Fats Processing Industry

Aug 18, 2025

According to the February 2025 China Agricultural Supply and Demand Analysis, China’s edible vegetable oil consumption in 2024/25 is expected to reach 36.65 million tons. However, constrained by limited arable land and freshwater resources, China faces a shortage of oilseeds and edible oils, with vegetable oil supply largely dependent on imports. Meanwhile, driven by consumption upgrading and increasing health awareness, consumer demand for “better-quality oils” is pushing the industry toward more nutritious and functional products.

With population growth and consumption upgrading on the horizon, China must accelerate self-sufficiency and technological advancement to secure a stable supply chain. In this context, Myande Group Co., Ltd. (Myande), a leading player in the oils and fats engineering industry, remains committed to the principle of “higher yield, better oil.” Leveraging more than two decades of engineering expertise, Myande has pioneered a nanocavitation reaction unit that boosts domestic processing efficiency, minimizes resource losses, and elevates the quality and nutritional integrity of vegetable oils—supporting consumers’ pursuit of healthier, premium lifestyles.

China’s edible oil raw materials are highly diverse, and their quality can fluctuate significantly. During processing, harmful substances such as plant mycotoxins, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), plasticizers, GE/3-MCPD, and heavy metals can remain in the oil, severely affecting its quality and safety. In addition, significant waste occurs during processing, particularly in the refining stage. Refining, which removes harmful impurities from crude oil, traditionally relies on alkaline refining with mechanical stirring and millimeter-scale mixing equipment. This approach suffers from low reaction efficiency, high acid and alkali consumption, and incomplete removal of harmful substances. The industry urgently requires a new technology that can accommodate diverse raw materials while precisely controlling the reaction process.

To address these issues, Myande has pioneered the application of nanocavitation technology in acid-enhanced refining. Compared with international counterparts, the process can adaptively select acid- or alkali-enhanced routes depending on crude oil type and quality, ensuring optimal refining efficiency. The nanocavitation system leverages hydrodynamic cavitation to promote nanoscale mixing and chemical reactions, significantly shortening reaction time, lowering acid and alkali usage, and reducing refining losses. In practice, acid consumption is cut by 60%, alkali by over 20%, and diglyceride levels in deodorized oil drop by more than 0.3 mg/kg. Additionally, the system demonstrates remarkable efficacy in reducing zearalenone, aflatoxins, and other trace harmful substances, providing technological support for the production of healthier, nutrition-focused edible oils.

Driving Both Operational Efficiency and Social Impact: Validating the Industry Value of Green Smart Manufacturing

The nanocavitation system, designed as an integrated modular unit, offers advantages such as automated operation and easy installation and commissioning. It can be incorporated as part of a complete process in new vegetable oil refining projects or deployed as a standalone unit in existing production facilities. Currently, Myande’s nanocavitation system has been successfully applied in numerous oil refining enterprises across China, significantly enhancing production efficiency and oil quality and safety. It helps companies reduce costs and improve efficiency while promoting the transformation, upgrading, and sustainable development of the edible oil industry, delivering notable social benefits and broad application potential.

It is worth highlighting that Myande’s nanocavitation system and associated equipment have received 10 patents, including 3 invention patents, addressing a domestic technology gap and substituting for imported solutions. On March 20, 2025, the China Cereals and Oils Association convened experts in Yangzhou to assess three of Myande’s innovations, including the “Nanocavitation System and Complete Equipment,” which was recognized as achieving a world-leading level of technology.

The successful development and application of Myande’s nanocavitation system reflects a profound transformation in China’s grain and oil equipment manufacturing industry. With the accelerated intelligent upgrading of the “Grain Security Project” in 2025, nanocavitation technology is expected to be adopted by more oil and fat enterprises nationwide. It will continue to enhance energy efficiency, reduce consumption, improve quality, and promote green transformation in edible oil processing, helping more companies achieve a market position based on healthy and safe oils, and putting a “Made in China” core in the nation’s oil supply.
