Flaked maize is mainly used as feed for ruminants such as beef cattle, cow, sheep, and horses. The corn pellets are softened by soaking, modified by steam heat treatment and then pressed into flakes of 0.4mm-2mm by flaking mills. Then the flaked maize is dried in the tube bundle dryer. The chemical structure of proteins in flaked maize is changed, thus facilitating absorption of starch in the rumen of ruminants.
