Corn Starch Process

Cleaning

The purpose of cleaning is to remove iron, sand and stone from corn to ensure normal operation of equipment and improve the quality of starch. Corn is conveyed by bucket elevator into the classifying screener and magnetic separator in turn for screening and metal removing. Properly cleaned corn enters the jigging machine for wet destoning.

Sulfite Solution Preparation

Sulfite solution is commonly prepared from sulfur combustion. Tail gas concentration reaches emission requirements after three-stage washing treatment. Liquid sulfur dioxide or sodium bisulfite can also be used as raw materials for acid preparation to meet with higher local standards.

Steeping

Steeping is the key process of corn starch production. It directly affects yield and quality of starch. The purpose of steeping is to change the structure and physical and chemical properties of endosperm, extract soluble substances, and inhibit microbial growth.

Corn Steep Liquid Concentration

After removing impurities, the steeping liquid containing solid content enters secondary heat evaporation system for evaporation and concentration until the solid content is no less than 43%. The concentrated solids are added to fiber and dried together to be used as protein feed. The evaporator uses secondary steam from tube bundle dryer as the heat source without live steam consumed.

Corn Crushing and Germ Separation

The steeped corn enters wet corn storage hopper through conveying pump, and then enters the 1st stage degerming mill to be cracked into 4~6 pieces. In the process 75%~89% of corn germ is separated while 20%~25% of total starch is extracted. The cracked corn is pumped to the 1st stage germ cyclone. Germ flowing out from the top of cyclone goes to the washing system while the bottom outflow enters the 2nd stage degerming mill to be further cracked to 10~12 pieces.

Fine Grinding

After separating the germ by the 2nd stage germ cyclone, the slurry goes through bend screener to get crude starch milk, which merges with the crude starch slurry separated by fiber washing and then enters the starch separation process. The oversize products enter the pin mill for fine grinding for maximum separation of the free starch from the fiber.

Fiber Washing

Slurry after fine grinding enters the fiber washing tank, where it is sent to the 1st stage bend screener together with the washing water. The oversize products pass through 6 stages bend screeners for countercurrent washing. Washing water is added to the 6th stage bend screener to carry free starch washed down to move forward step by step until it arrives at the fiber washing tank, and then merges with the slurry after fine grinding, enter the 1st stage bend screener to separate the crude starch milk.

Starch Separation and Refining

After impurities are removed by sand remover and rotary filter, crude starch separated from the screeners enters the gluten separator, and the bottom outflow from the gluten centrifugal separator is sent to the washing cyclone for washing and refining.

Starch Drying

The refined starch milk is dewatered by scraper centrifuge, and is then dried by flash dryer. The finished starch is sent to the packing plant.

Protein Drying

Gluten contained in the discharged overflow is sent to the gluten concentrator, and then dewatered by vacuum drum filter or plate-and-frame filter press.

Germ Dewatering and Drying

The germ flowing out from the top of 1st stage germ cyclone is washed by three stages of bend screener by which wet powder particles adhering to the germ are washed away. Germ then enters the screw press for dewatering, and the tube bundle dryer for drying. Product germ is sent to warehouse for packing after cooling.

Fiber Drying

The washed fiber is dewatered and then dried by tube bundle dryer. The dried fiber feed is crushed and sent to the warehouse for packaging after cooling.

3,000TPD Corn Starch Milk Production Line

Following the successful construction, installation and commissioning of its 1st 3,000TPD corn starch milk production line supplied by Myande as a turnkey project, Qiqihar Biotechnology Co., Ltd entrusted Myande again for the supply of its 2nd 3,000TPD corn starch milk production line.   Before the conclusion, the contract for the first line, the customer's technical and managerial teams inspected Myande manufacturing facilities and were pleased with what they saw. They were impressed by Myande’s management concept, strict quality management, and persistent pursuit for improvement. Consequently, they chose Myande to build a 1st 3,000TPD corn milk processing line. As this production line was to provide intermediate material for downstream processing of crystalline sugar, liquid sugar and monosodium glutamate, reliability and desirable quality of the product is absolutely important. Both during commissioning and actual production, Myande's automatic control system met with complete satisfaction.

Annually 100,000 Tons F55 Fructose Production Line

On 28 May, 2017, Anhui Pinqing 100,000T/A F55 fructose production line undertaken by Myande was successfully put into trial operation. On June 2017 the line started to yield qualified fructose which meets Coca-Cola quality standard. Since then, the complete plant has been in smooth operation with stable product quality.   Myande provided integrated services including design, manufacture and installation of main equipment, including evaporation, ion exchange, chromatographic system of the entire production line as well as design, supply, and installation of the automatic control system.   Established in 1999 in Taiwan, Pinqing Biological Technology Co., Ltd specializes in research & development, production, and sales of high fructose starch syrup. It is the first enterprise to produce syrup with fructose content of 55% and above in mainland China. Its main products include F42, F55, F90 and various other fructose products.   As long-term partner of Pinqing, Myande has undertaken quite a few engineering projects for Pingqing, which include supply and installation of all custom-made equipment in the syrup conveying system for Kunshan Pinqing, evaporation system for 100,000T/A F55 fructose, F00, F42, F55 syrup project, ion exchange and chromatographic system for 100,000T/A F55 fructose project, installation of DCS, MCC, instrumentation and cables for 100,000T/A F55 fructose project.   After years of research & development and market application of starch sugar technology, Myande has formed a complete product design system capable of meeting highly individualized customer requirements. 3,000TPD Corn Starch Turnkey Plant

After Heilongjiang customer and Myande Group cooperated in the core equipment of 3,000TPD corn starch project, in the extraordinarily cold winter of 2017, the commissioning of the equipment line was carried out. Through unremitting efforts of customer and Myande engineers, this 3,000TPD corn starch production line started running successfully.   Based on automation operations of the corn feeding circulating water, the automatic feeding system, the soaking tank corn level, the monitoring of tank liquid level, the monitoring of all the motors and pneumatic valve instrument interlock, under skillful control of customer and through the full cooperation of Myande engineers, after 1 hour, the project started running normally and finished starch milk has entered the following liquid sugar section.   Actually, the temperature of winter in Heilongjiang Province is close to 30 degrees below zero, and working conditions of plant are also very hard, which are all the challenge for Myande's on-site commissioning team. In order to complete this project successfully, all team members with strong fighting spirit stuck to the work site of commissioning.   After more than ten years' development, Myande automatic control department has formed a professional team composed of more than 30 engineers, and has completed more than 200 automatic control projects in the field of starch, edible oil, fermentation, energy saving and evaporation. 600,000 T/A Wheat Starch Deep Processing Project Successfully Launched

Recently, the 1st phase of Henan Hanyong's 600,000 tons (annual output) wheat starch deep processing project, designed by and installed under the guidance of Myande, has been smoothly commissioned, and contract for the 2nd phase was signed with Myande, marking the further extension of the domestic wheat deep processing industry chain.   Henan Hanyong Biotechnology Co., Ltd. is one of the leading enterprises in agricultural industrialization of Henan province. It mainly produces edible alcohol with strong competitiveness and a high reputation in the market.   Starch deep processing is one of Myande’s important business segments. After years of technology and experience accumulation in the field of starch deep processing, Myande has formed a complete set of production design system with a high degree of automation, stable operation and high product quality.
